Together with O&O, the Education Lab of the Faculty of Technology has selected different tools for each learning activity. These activities correspond to how they are scheduled. The different tools are described below. The explanation on how to set it up, how to work with it and how a student sees it can be found by clicking further on the description.

  • Skype (for business)
    Would you like to consult with a colleague(s) or a group of students? Start an online meeting with or without video. Exchanging information is very easy by sharing your screen.
    How to use it?

  • Brightspace Forum
    In discussions you can share thoughts and ideas about course material. Course members can have a useful discussions in a Brightspace forum that also take place in the traditional classroom, but with the benefits of asynchronous communication. Participants do not need to be in the same location or time zone, and you have plenty of time to formulate your response carefully.

  • Virtual classroom
    Virtual Classroom is a program that is integrated in Brightspace and can be used to lecture online. During the Virtual Classroom you can share PowerPoint slides, Word and PDF documents and use a webcam. It is also possible to use polls or writing/drawing notes during the lesson. In addition, students can ask questions during the session via the chat box or microphone.

  • Brightspace assignment
    Submitting assignments can be done in Brightspace with the Assignment Activity. An Assignment is a hand-in box for the digital work of students. You can attach a Assignment to a group, in that case it can be a group assignment.
    How to use it?

  • Feedbackfruits Peerfeedback
    Peer Feedback is a tool used by students to assess their colleagues. Peer Feedback is perfect for students to see how their colleagues have made an assignment and provide them with structured feedback. The feedback students give to their colleagues is based on criteria set by the teacher. The instructor can indicate the number of criteria students need to give feedback, the way in which students can indicate the level of proficiency, the number of comments obtained per criterion, and the number of fellow students needed.

You can also prepare activities earlier by making (screen) recordings and/or setting up your course in Brightspace with topics.

  • Interactive video
    Interactive video is a tool used to stimulate interactivity while watching videos. With this tool, both the student and the teacher can add discussion topics and practice questions to the video, by adding them at a specific moment in the longitudinal video. These discussion themes and practice questions will be visible to all students, facilitating the exchange of information and opinions between them and the teacher. As students watch the video, questions and discussion topics will appear.

    Interactive Presentation is a tool designed to make presentations more attractive, by encouraging attention and active thinking by asking students to answer questions, and by helping tutors to monitor/understand the progress of their students.

  • Interactive documents
    Interactive document is a tool used to stimulate interactivity while reading a document. This tool allows the teacher and his/her students to add discussion topics and practice questions to a document by annotating specific parts of a text. These discussion topics and practice questions will be visible to all students, facilitating the exchange of information and opinions between them and their teacher. While reading the document, discussion topics and questions will appear.
    How to use it?

  • Mediasite Desktop recorder
    The Mediasite Desktop Recorder makes it quick and easy to make full screen recordings. It is also possible to record audio and video. All recorded material is automatically on your own MyMedia site where you can edit the material. You can easily share your videos on a course or any other online location, if they were recorded with the Mediasite Desktop Recorder and stored on your MyMediasite.
